Experience
Prior to founding the Healy Law Office, Matt worked at the Healy Scanlon Law Firm (where Matt is Of Counsel) where he worked with attorneys to achieve record-setting verdicts and settlements for the injured in auto, motorcycle, trucking and defective product cases. Prior to Healy Scanlon, Matt counseled and defended doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice litigation at the firm of Donohue Brown Mathewson & Smyth. Prior to private practice, Matt served a two-year judicial clerkship in the Cook County Circuit Court, where he worked closely with judges in Law Division, Chancery and Commercial, where he drafted legal opinions and orders for the Court. |

Matt has authored and co-authored legal articles concerning personal injury, products liability, autos, and motorcycles that have been published by the American Association for Justice and the Irish American News. He co-authored the chapter on Intersection Traffic Law published by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education. |
Education
Matt received his undergraduate degree with Cum Laude honors from the University of Notre Dame. He received his law degree from the University of Illinois School of Law, where he was a member of the Trial Team, a member of Environmental Moot Court, an intern for the Illinois Speaker of the House's staff of attorneys, a law clerk in the Champaign County Circuit Court, and a volunteer tutor to at-risk students in middle school. |
Always Preparing
It is the philosophy of the Healy Law Office to prepare each case as if it were going to trial. Even if a case settles well before trial (and they often do), this steadfast preparation and approach ensure a maximum result for the client. The client, however, does indeed have the ultimate say, and can direct the attorney to settle the case at any time. |
Personal Attention
When you call Healy Law Office, you will speak to Matt. The Healy Law Office limits its amount of cases so it can give each client proper attention; the Healy Law Office is not a high volume firm that refers out cases. Matt personally handles all aspects of the case, from the initial meeting of attorney and client, to investigating the facts, to making demands to insurers, to working with engineers and doctors, to conducting legal research, to authoring pre-trial discovery motions, to arguing at hearings before the court, to trial of the case before the court and jury. In Matt's experience, having the same attorney follow all aspects of the case ensures a continuity of care to the case and client, and yields the best results. |
